UNCW alumna and multidisciplinary artist Meredith Connelly creates illuminated sculptural environments that explore the interconnection of science, nature, and technology. Her latest installation will light up CAM’s grounds for the holidays and beyond. Nested: Where Light Gathers and Nature Holds honors the cup-shaped nests North American birds construct, inviting viewers to look up and explore nature’s architecture. The installation offers a moment of pause, a chance to reflect on not only the resourcefulness and adaptability of nature, but also on the materials we put into the world and the lives they touch. By using light as a material, Connelly taps into the innate human connection with illumination and the natural world, transcending manmade structures and celebrating the museum’s outdoor spaces and common ground. © by Meredith Connelly 2025.
