Artist Talk: Thomas Sayre with Rachel Lewis Hilburn

Join us for an illuminating artist talk with Thomas Sayre and Rachel Lewis Hilburn. Explore Sayre’s latest exhibition, Four Walls, and dive into the ideals behind his four large-scale installations. Best known for his monumental sculptures cast from on-site excavations, Sayre’s work in Four Walls invites viewers into a world of fugitive materials and processes, encouraging deep contemplation.

With a career spanning over 30 years, Sayre has created public sculptures and private commissions worldwide. In addition to his sculptures, his current work includes large-scale paintings made from unconventional materials like tar, smoke, and fire. Sayre is also a founding principal of Clearscapes, a multidisciplinary design firm focusing on civic, educational, and museum buildings.

Rachel Lewis Hilburn brings her expertise as a journalist to this conversation, drawing on her unique ability to connect with others and delve into their creative processes. Her experience producing and hosting CoastLine, which featured artists, scholars, and innovators, adds a rich layer to this discussion.
