Handbuilding: Coil Vases
Spend a day learning the fundamentals of handbuilding pottery in a focused, small-group workshop centered on coil-built vases. The session introduces basic clay preparation, focusing on the coil method, where rolled clay is layered and shaped to create functional vessels. Participants will practice joining coils, controlling wall thickness, and refining surface texture. Guidance is provided at each stage, from initial form to simple finishing touches. By the end of the day, each participant will complete one or more small vases ready for drying and later firing. The pace is steady, with time for demos, individual work, and lunch. This workshop is suitable for beginners or those looking to revisit core skills in a practical, hands-on setting.
