Pianist and organist Le’Andra McPhatter brings warmth, soul, and a deep reverence for Black American Music to the Jazz@CAM stage. Shaped by gospel, soul, and jazz, McPhatter blends tradition with a forward-looking approach to improvisation, creating music that honors the past while making space for new expression.
Born in Kinston, North Carolina, and now based in Hartford, Connecticut, McPhatter began her musical journey at age three. Surrounded by a musical family and the traditions of the church, she discovered early on the power of music to uplift, connect, and transform. Her later introduction to jazz expanded her musical vocabulary and sparked a lasting passion for improvisation.
McPhatter earned a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from North Carolina Central University in 2018 and completed her Master of Music in Jazz Studies at the University of Hartford.
Her performances invite listeners into a space of comfort, reflection, and joy. Experience an evening of expressive musicianship from a dynamic artist whose work carries the spirit of tradition into the future.
