Opening Night Cocktail Party with Jim Avett:

Curated by sporting art expert Robbie Smith, With a Southern Accent highlights the human relationship with wildlife and nature through the time-honored tradition of sporting art. At the heart of the exhibition is the stunning collection of southern duck decoys collected by Bruce B. Cameron, featuring iconic works by renowned artisans such as Lee Dudley, James Best, Mitchell Fulcher, Percy Carawan, Alvirah Wright, and many others from the Upper Back Bay of Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
Juxtaposed with these rare working decoys are contemporary paintings by celebrated Southern artists, including John Beerman, Robert Dance, Richard Fennell, Jonathan Green, Robert Gwathmey, Ivey Hayes, Claude Howell, and Bob Timberlake. This dynamic exhibition will appeal to a wide audience and shines a spotlight on one of the South’s signature traditions.
