Walkabout Wilmington

This session offers an opportunity for photographers, of any skill level, to spend some time just photographing our beautiful city. We will spend two hours once a week in different locals around town. We will visit five locations in and around Wilmington and on the sixth week, we will gather at Cameron Art Museum for a group critique. Capture Wilmington’s beautiful architecture while drawing on location. We’ll start in the classroom for a lesson on perspective and then learn how to apply that knowledge when drawing from observation. The Moods of the Ocean

Painting the different moods of the ocean involves capturing its dynamic and ever-changing nature, from calm and serene to stormy and tumultuous. Varying brushstrokes, color palettes and lighting techniques are used to depict the mood you wish to create. Soft blended blues and gentle ripples for tranquility; dark, swirling grays and jagged waves for a stormy, powerful sea. The sky’s tone will also set the mood.

Expressive Architecture in Pen and Ink

Learn how to capture your favorite architectural subjects in traditional pen and ink from rough sketches to finished drawings. Start with exercises to develop skills. Learn hatching techniques to create depth and texture. Experiment with different pen strokes, and incorporate ink washes to depict areas of shadow. We’ll create dynamic sketches then advance to more refined drawings. Once learned, these techniques can be applied to any subject. Course pairs well with Architectural Drawing on Location.

This session offers an opportunity for photographers, of any skill level, to spend some time just photographing our beautiful city. We will spend two hours once a week in different locals around town. We will visit five locations in and around Wilmington and on the sixth week, we will gather at Cameron Art Museum for a group critique. Capture Wilmington’s beautiful architecture while drawing on location. We’ll start in the classroom for a lesson on perspective and then learn how to apply that knowledge when drawing from observation. The Moods of the Ocean

Painting the different moods of the ocean involves capturing its dynamic and ever-changing nature, from calm and serene to stormy and tumultuous. Varying brushstrokes, color palettes and lighting techniques are used to depict the mood you wish to create. Soft blended blues and gentle ripples for tranquility; dark, swirling grays and jagged waves for a stormy, powerful sea. The sky’s tone will also set the mood.

Expressive Architecture in Pen and Ink

Learn how to capture your favorite architectural subjects in traditional pen and ink from rough sketches to finished drawings. Start with exercises to develop skills. Learn hatching techniques to create depth and texture. Experiment with different pen strokes, and incorporate ink washes to depict areas of shadow.
