Claude Howell

Sunday, March 24, 2019, 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM
CAM member: $15; Non-member: $20

Celebrate Claude Howell, born March 17, 1915, in the Carolina Apartments on Market St., Wilmington, NC. Considered a master of color, he spent a life-time depicting images of Lower Cape Fear beach life, fishermen, and local characters in drawings, paintings and prints. Claude's personality was as colorful as his silkscreens. His global travels generated fascinating stories shared through journals and public radio commentaries. He always held high expectations for St. John's Museum of Art (now Cameron Art Museum) and created deeply rooted relationships with art enthusiasts world-wide in his community. Claude died in the same building he was born at the age of 82.

CAM Filmmaker Series
Tom Priestly, ASC - The Thomas Crown Affair

Thursday, March 28, 2019, 6:30 PM

CAM aims to recognize and give voice to our local filmmaking community and illuminate the 35-plus years of film heritage we have enjoyed in North Carolina. Each film will be presented by one of our own resident filmmakers and followed up with a Q&A session. Our series kicks off with The Thomas Crown Affair (1999, 113 min. rated R). The film is centered around a clever art museum heist combined with an unlikely romance. Pierce Brosnan stars as a billionaire art thief in this remake of the 1968 film, co- starring Rene Russo, Denis Leary, and Faye Dunaway.

Wilmington’s own Tom Priestley, ASC, Director of Photography for the film, will be present to offer opening comments and will answer your questions at the end of the screening. Priestley is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, The Directors Guild of America, and the American Society of Cinematographers. *sponsored by Screen Gems.

CAM Café (910-777-2363) serves dinner every Thursday 5 – 9 PM. Café reservations are always suggested and appreciated.
