Forward Thinking:

Simple Ways You Can Support the Cameron Art Museum Ė and Future Generations Ė through a Legacy Gift.

Join CAM

You do not need great wealth to leave a legacy gift to the Cameron Art Museum. It does require your generosity, foresight, and a determination to sustain the museumís mission of enriching lives in our community through the presentation of the visual and performing arts.

The Cameron Art Museum has established the Legacy Society to recognize and honor dedicated friends who designate the museum as a beneficiary in their wills and trusts. Members of the Legacy Society are individuals who commit to building and nourishing the growth of CAM exhibitions, collections and programs for future generations.

Following are ways you can provide a critical gift of support for the Cameron Art Museum in the future:

  • Make a bequest to the Cameron Art Museum in a will or revocable trust. You can designate a bequest for a specific monetary amount or a percentage of your estate. Bequest gifts may include cash, stock, bonds, or personal property. The museum could be named to receive the remainder of your estate, or as a contingent beneficiary, if other beneficiaries do not survive you. Your estate will receive a charitable deduction.

  • Create a gift of retirement plan assets. As retirement plan assets frequently have higher tax liabilities, there are advantages to donating such assets and designating less tax-burdened assets to other beneficiaries. To make a charitable gift of retirement assets, complete a new beneficiary designation form naming the museum as a beneficiary.

  • Donate a new or existing life insurance policy. You can designate the museum as a percentage beneficiary or the owner of a new or existing life insurance policy. Providing the gift of an existing life insurance policy simply requires filling out a new beneficiary designation form.

  • Set up a charitable trust. Charitable trusts can provide lifetime income for a donor or loved one over a designated number of years, or the life of the donor, offering the significant contribution of remaining funds to the museum and substantial tax advantages for the donor.

  • Give the gift of a work of art that the museum has agreed to accept. This gift will also provide a charitable deduction to your estate.

* Please note the legal name required for all bequests and gifts is The Cameron Art Museum, Federal Tax ID# Federal Tax ID #56-0812213

Through a planned gift, Legacy Society members can support museum operations for which they have a passion (growth and conservation of the museumís collections, educational programs and outreach, exhibition development and research, or museum grounds care and other facility needs). Or, your gift can be unrestricted, allowing the museum to utilize funds to meet urgent needs or strategic opportunities. Gifts may also be added to endowment funds. Please call Jayme Bednarczyk, Assoc. Director of Philanthropy, at 910.395.5999 ext. 1010 to discuss ways in which your gift can make a critical difference to the CAMís future.

Honoring Legacy Society Members

With their permission, Legacy Society Members are listed as contributors on the museumís website and other promotional materials. Members also receive invitations to special events at the CAM each year. No additional fees or contributions are required for Legacy Society membership. Their generosity, vision, and belief in the power of art to transform lives and build community offers inspiration to all of us.
