Book Arts for Fun

Learn how to make some fun books with folded paper techniques,paper making, marbling, drawing and painting, printmaking and simple bookbinding during two Saturday mornings. All fun and no work. A great opportunity to make a heart, a house and some fun folded paper books to share and give as gifts or display on the book shelf. Who knew three dimensional art could be so fun and functional. What a fun way to spend a couple of Saturday mornings at the museum during the Winter cold. Pack a snack.

Contour line Drawing and a Bit More

Beginners will learn three stages of Contour Line drawing and experience a variety of drawing mediums. The objective is to provide exercises for drawing practice and to give students confidence in their drawing style.

Drawing Inspired by Nature: The Unexpected Beauty of Winter

Use nature as inspiration to create beautiful drawings! Improve your drawing ability through close observation. For the winter session we will bring the outdoors inside discovering the wonderful shapes and colors that nature reveals. Class time will be spent drawing various winter greens, early blooms and the unexpected beauty of fallen leaves and branches. Students will learn different techniques to enhance drawings and add color. Focus will be given to composition and new ways to capture your subject.

From Pen to Print – Quick & Easy Lithography

Printmaking couldn’t be easier than this! No carving, cutting or etching required for this simple lithography method. Unlike the relief or intaglio printing process, lithography is done from a flat surface using the repelling properties of oil and water. Polyester plates make the process even easier. Drawings or designs can be easily transferred to the printing plates. Step by step instruction will be given and student will go home with a small edition of prints.

Creating Stained Glass Art

Immerse yourself in learning the ageless art of producing your very own stained glass art piece, be it a window, a door corner, a box, or a sun catcher. During this class as a beginning student, you’ll be given instruction on how to make two-dimensional and/or three-dimensional stained glass art pieces.
