Landscape Photography is a wide-ranging topic. It can be as simple as documenting the flowers in your backyard or as grand as the million acres of a western National Park. While we don't have any sweeping vistas to compare with the iconic west, we do have many beautiful natural areas in and around Wilmington. In this six-day session, we will explore the Ft. Fisher Hermit Boardwalk, the riverscape of Carolina Beach State Park and much more. On week six, we will meet at Cameron Art Museum to share our work in a group critique. We will explore the use of wide and telephoto lenses as well as using our nifty fifty to create the perfect panoramic. This session is open to all skill levels and any digital device, so grab your DSLR, smart phone or tablet and sign up.

Plants have been used for natural dyeing since before recorded history. The staining properties of plants were noted by humans and have been used to obtain and retain these colors from plants throughout history. Native plants and their resultant dyes have been used to enhance people's lives through decoration of animal skins, fabrics, crafts, hair, and even their bodies. Join us in Pancoe for two days of color exploration with natural plant dye materials that are both native to North Carolina and those transported by the seas like Indigofera Suffruticosa.

It's time to stop thinking of your smartphone as a phone with a camera in it and think of it as a camera with a phone in it. I am often asked, "What is the best camera to have." I have always felt that it is the one in your hand, or pocket. Today's smartphone comes equipped with a capable camera. Using algorithms to assist in compiling the image, the results can be stunning. In this workshop we will explore the native photographic capabilities that are already in your smartphone and tablet. All you need is an iOS or Android device and your curiosity to liven up your social media. This is a three hour workshop for everyone.

This class opens you up to so many things other than painting freely. Unblock your spirit and your mind! No painting experience necessary but professionals will benefit from this class also.
