Turner's professional career has spanned 20 years, and has included performances and recordings with some of the biggest names in jazz and pop music, including Delfeayo Marsalis, John Legend, Raphael Saadiq, and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra. His latest album, My Americana (2019), offers an understated “ode to black American music” rooted in an innovative reimagination of pieces by Stevie Wonder, Fats Waller, and others, alongside original compositions.

Public re-opening of CAM exhibition galleries
Saturday, 9/12/2020
10:00AM-5:00PM
On Saturday, September 12, CAM will open its doors to the public with three brand-new exhibitions: She Persists, The Face of Lincoln, and The Lived-In Body: Celebrating Women Over 65, Paintings by Virginia Wright-Frierson.
She Persists, coincides with the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment and explores the ways in which female artists in Cameron Art Museum’s permanent collection persist in their own lives, in their communities, in their world, both personally and politically --- through art.
The Face of Lincoln is a powerful bronze casting from the original work of sculptor Robert Merrell Gage.
The stunning works by Wilmington artist Virginia Wright-Frierson in The Lived-In Body: Celebrating Women Over 65 celebrate, as Wright-Frierson writes, “the lived-in body, our crepey arms that have lifted babies 1,000 times, gardened, cleaned, cooked, and taken care of others; our worn feet and our breasts and stomachs that now sag. We have worked and given and created. We are aging, and we’re lucky to have reached this time to appreciate our experiences and wisdom and celebrate that we have survived.”
