While the art world was starting to turn towards Impressionism and Modernism, Evelyn de Morgan (1855-1919) found inspiration in the paintings of 15th century Florence, including Botticelli. While she joined other Pre-Raphaelite artists in looking at the past for inspiration, she used that style to convey her very modern ideas. In this class, we'll look at how she used ancient stories, like those of Helen, Cassandra, and Queen Eleanor, to communicate her Feminist ideas.
