Cameron Art Museum
2021 Virtual Floating Lantern Ceremony

Sunday, January 10, 2021
5:00 – 6:30 PM

We invite you to join us virtually for this year’s floating lantern ceremony. Remember someone special, express your gratitude, or create a wish for the new year when you adorn your lantern sleeve.

CAM staff and volunteers will assemble and float the lanterns on CAM’s Reflecting Pond beginning at 5 pm on Sunday, January 10, 2021. Live music by Perry Smith on drums and Josh Youse on guitar will help set the stage for the evening as the sun sets and the candlelight from the lanterns come into focus.

How to participate in this year’s Virtual Floating Lantern Ceremony:

1. Purchase a lantern sleeve from CAM ($12 + tax at Museum Shop through Sat., Jan. 9)

2. Take home and make it special using your own materials – crayons, markers, or pencils and with family or dear friends. Photos may be applied, but keep the weight in mind so your lantern stays safely afloat.

3. Take a photo of your lantern for your scrapbook or memories or to share on facebook.

4. Return your personalized sleeve to CAM’s Visitor Services desk by noon on January 10. Sleeves will remain flat until assembly by staff on event day. (Note: CAM is closed on Mondays, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day)

5. On Sunday, January 10 (while CAM staff is preparing the launch), get your hot chocolate or hot toddy ready and . . .

6. Tune in from your comfortable space and watch live on CAM’s Facebook page and/or YouTube channel.

7. Savor creating and preserving memories and supporting art in your community.

If you are unable to purchase a lantern sleeve in person, you may still purchase a lantern sleeve online and a CAM volunteer will inscribe your requested message. See below for online order:
