Drawing inspiration from his Cape Verdean heritage\, his music brings together jazz\, Latin traditions\, and global influences. While living in Boston\, Santos further developed his craft through studies at New England Conservatory and Berklee College of Music\, becoming an accomplished conga player along the way. \nOver a career spanning more than 30 years\, Santos has performed with artists including Kurt Elling\, Donald Harrison\, Maurice Starr\, Steven Tyler\, Ran Blake\, Hilliard Greene\, Walter Beasley\, and the late Jaki Byard. \nAfter moving to Wilmington in 2012\, Santos created Mangroove\, a collaborative project featuring musicians from across the region. Performing with the Brandon Mitchell Quartet\, he offers an evening rooted in jazz tradition and shaped by expressive improvisation\, dynamic interplay\, and an inventive approach to the vibraphone. \nOriginally from Washington\, D.C.\, and now based in North Carolina\, Mitchell performs primarily as a vibraphonist and bandleader\, as well as a drummer and sideman. He released his debut solo album\, Black Guardian\, in 2020\, followed by On Brand in 2025. He is endorsed by Marimba One and is an educator affiliate of 2112 Percussion in Raleigh. \nMitchell has performed throughout the United States and abroad\, including appearances at the Jazzit Festival and Teatro Piccolo in Italy\, the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival\, the John Coltrane International Jazz & Blues Festival\, and the Ocean City Jazz Festival. He has performed alongside acclaimed musicians including Branford Marsalis\, Joey Calderazzo\, Jon Metzger\, John Fedchock\, and Jeff “Tain” Watts. \nMitchell earned a Master of Arts in Jazz Studies from North Carolina Central University and a Bachelor of Arts in Percussion Performance from Elon University. Joined by his quartet\, Booth will present an evening of expressive improvisation\, original compositions\, and dynamic ensemble playing. \nBased in Durham\, North Carolina\, Booth has spent more than 17 years performing across a wide range of musical styles. His career has taken him from his former home of New Orleans to stages around the world\, developing a sound informed by jazz\, rhythm and blues\, funk\, and the rich musical traditions of the Crescent City. \nHis latest album\, Sun Prints\, introduces a new quintet project. Booth has also released numerous recordings as co-leader of the piano trio Extended\, the quartet Palindromes\, and the guitar trio Some Antics. \nBooth has appeared at festivals including the Ottawa Jazz Festival\, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival\, South by Southwest\, and Burlington Jazz Festival. Based in Philadelphia\, the trio presents fresh interpretations of jazz standards alongside original compositions rooted in tradition and shaped by a contemporary perspective. \nFormed in 2023\, the trio came together after pianist and composer James Fernando received a call to assemble a group for a Kennedy Center performance with only three days’ notice. The musicians met onstage for the first time that day and quickly discovered a powerful connection. Since then\, the trio has performed at leading venues and universities across the country and released its debut album\, Philly 3\, in 2026. \nThe group’s music draws inspiration from jazz greats including Duke Ellington\, Oscar Peterson\, and Thelonious Monk. Through inventive arrangements\, captivating rhythms\, and spontaneous interplay\, the trio brings the jazz tradition into the present with performances that are vibrant\, accessible\, and full of personality. \nFernando is a Philadelphia-based pianist and composer whose work blends jazz\, classical\, and electronic influences. A 2026 Gilmore Festival Fellow\, he has received recognition from DownBeat Magazine and the National YoungArts Foundation and earned first prize at the West Virginia International Piano Competition. With deep roots along the North Carolina coast\, Les Fontanelles blends sweetness\, grit\, humor\, and heart into songs that feel both familiar and entirely their own. \nThe band draws inspiration from artists including Townes Van Zandt\, Dire Straits\, The Byrds\, Blaze Foley\, Bonnie “Prince” Billy\, Mazzy Star\, and Magnolia Electric Co. Their music reflects a belief that life may be filled with heartache\, but laughter and love are what make the journey beautiful. \nEqual parts front-porch gathering and late-night storytelling\, a Les Fontanelles performance moves easily between tenderness\, wit\, and a little mischief.
