SUMMARY:Artist Talk in "Thomas Sayre: Four Walls": Thomas Sayre
DESCRIPTION:CAM Members: $15\nNot-Yet Members: $20\nStudents: $12 \n  \n  \nSpend the morning in the gallery with artist Thomas Sayre as he presents the story and process behind his new installation Four Walls.  This exhibition of new work by Sayre brings together his exploration of distinct materials manipulated by unexpected means; fire\, water\, smoke\, gravity\, chemistry\, and chance become mark making tools in these large-scale works. \nThomas Sayre is an American sculptor and painter. He designs and builds public art projects and private commissions all over the world. Sayre’s current work includes large paintings made with tar smoke\, gunshots\, welding material\, earth\, and fire. He is known for his earthcastings\, monumental sculptures made in and of the earth. Sayre is a founding principal of the multi-disciplinary design firm Clearscapes\, alongside architect Steve Schuster. The team designs numerous civic\, educational\, and museum buildings. Sayre is the recipient of an NEA grant and an honorary doctorate from North Carolina State University. \n  \nSponsored in part by Robert E.
