Heidi completely fell in love with the practice and the instructor. The establishment would later become what is now Wilmington Yoga Center and the instructor was Kristin Cooper-Gulak who would later go on to be Heidi’s mentor. Heidi’s journey in yoga would continue under the teachings of Holler Brown and Larry Hobbs who both guided her in a strong ashtanga practice. Later becoming an elementary school teacher\, Heidi saw the need for yoga in schools and in the lives of children and adolescents. \nIn 2012 she received her ChildLight Children’s Yoga certification and began a successful after school yoga program at the school where she was teaching. Still wanting more knowledge of yoga variations\, she completed her Goddess Yoga training and received certification in 2016 under Fallon Cattano. In 2018\, during her summer break from school\, Heidi began working alongside Heather Lilly and Sylvia Jabaley with Yoga Village to bring yoga to underprivileged communities. Returning to her original yoga mentor\, Kristin Cooper-Gulak and Jessica Bichler\, Heidi would receive her RYT200 in Kunga Yoga. Soon after\, she began teaching children and teen classes at Wilmington Yoga Center where she continues to draw awareness and mindfulness to children of all ages. In 2019\, Heidi would complete her Trauma Informed Yoga certification under the teachings of Hala Khouri where she is led to bring yoga to those seeking healing\, acceptance\, and connection. \n  \nWellness at CAM\n\nAt CAM\, we understand the vital role that art plays in health. SUMMARY:CAM After Dark: Gallery Talk with Niki Hildebrand
DESCRIPTION:CAM After Dark: Gallery Talk with Niki Hildebrand\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThursday\, May 14 \n6:30-7:30 PM \nFree with museum admission \nEnter the World of Magic\, Light\, and Sacred Geometry: Glassworks by Frederick G. Kahl through a focused gallery talk with artist Niki Hildebrand. \nHildebrand brings her perspective as a painter\, sculptor\, and stained glass artist to explore Kahl’s use of illusion\, material\, and sacred geometry\, revealing how light\, form\, and perception shape the work. \n\nSet within the exhibition\, this after-hours experience offers a deeper way to engage with the ideas behind the art.  \n\nMagic\, Light and Sacred Geometry: Glassworks by Frederick G. Kahl is the culmination of the artist’s decade-long inquiry into the immersive and meditative quality of light. Featuring glass works and drawings\, the exhibition reflects a career shaped by magic\, play\, and a sense of mystery. Also known as “the Great Fredini\,” Kahl’s practice has spanned visual and stage illusions\, yogic sideshow feats of sword swallowing\, and 3D scanned and printed portrait sculptures. \n\nREGISTER\n\nAbout the Speaker \nNiki Hildebrand is a painter\, stained glass artist\, and sculptor who holds an MFA from RISD (2001) and a BFA from the Chelsea College of Art and Design (1999). \nHildebrand\, born in London\, England\, now splits her time between her family base in Bellingham\, Washington\, and her chosen homes in Wrightsville Beach\, North Carolina\, and England. Hildebrand graduated from Chelsea College of Art in England and the Rhode Island School of Design. Her work has been shown in group and solo exhibitions internationally\, including four group shows in museums this year across the United States. \nHildebrand has received grants and awards\, including one from the WH Mellon Foundation. Engaged with the human condition\, her work captures sensory aspects of existence\, creating a play between solid visuals and indefinable matter. She is currently associated with the Coastal Designer Glass Studios. Born in London\, England\, Hildebrand lived and worked in Belfast\, Northern Ireland\, before coming to Wilmington\, USA. She has exhibited and sold works in England\, Ireland\, Sweden\, New Zealand\, and the United States. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearn more about the exhibition
