SUMMARY:2026 Summer at CAM Exhibition Opening Night
DESCRIPTION:Summer at CAM Exhibition Opening Night Celebration\n3 Exhibitions\, 1 Night \nThursday\, June 18\, 6:30–9 PM \n$20 | Free for CAM Members\, Students\, and Educators \n\nJoin us for an exciting opening night celebrating three exhibitions that invite guests to explore art through imagination\, interaction\, and storytelling. From immersive inflatable installations like Andy Warhol’s iconic Silver Clouds to the rich cultural narratives of Jonathan Green’s work\, we invite you to experience an evening of creativity and community at CAM.\n \n\n\nRemarks at 7 PM in Fresh Air: Inflatable Sculptures.\nCelebrate with a vinyl DJ set from Fort Lowell Records\, a cocktail tasting by End of Days Distillery\, ice cream from Boombalatti’s Sprinkles VW bus\, a special menu from CAM Café\, and more.\n\n \n\nAbout the exhibitions:\n\n\n\nFresh Air: Inflatable Sculptures: June 19– September 6\, 2026. Fresh Air is a bold exploration of inflatable sculpture\, showcasing soft materials and form. This exhibition invites viewers to engage with art that is both playful and deeply reflective. Expect the unexpected in this dynamic celebration of form\, space\, and imagination. Included are Andy Warhol’s immersive and magical Silver Clouds (on view through Sept 26\, 2026\, in Studio One Gallery) alongside contemporary artist Nick Cave’s large sculptural installation Augment\, which transforms the gallery into a site of collective joy and reflection.\nAndy Warhol: Silver Clouds:  June 19 – September 27\, 2026. Silver Clouds\, a magical installation by the world’s preeminent Pop artist\, Andy Warhol. The Studio One gallery is transformed into an interactive art experience\, as roughly 80 floating silver balloons fill the space\, enticing viewers to interact with the objects and the space in an entirely new way.  Playful yet profound\, this exhibition captures Warhol’s fascination with repetition\, celebrity\, and mass production—while inviting visitors to step inside one of Pop Art’s most iconic and interactive works.\nRooted in Memory: The Gullah Geechee Vision of Jonathan Green: June 19– January 24\, 2027. In Rooted in Memory: The Gullah Geechee Vision of Jonathan Green\, Jonathan Green’s vibrant paintings serve as both a celebration of culture and a poignant meditation on history and community. Drawing from his Gullah Geechee heritage\, this exhibition brings together a selection of Green’s paintings in conversation with traditional Gullah Geechee crafts\, including sweetgrass baskets\, quilts\, and Adinkra-printed cloth.\n\n\n\nMEMBER REGISTRATION\n\nNOT YET MEMBER REGISTRATION\n\n\nMember-only tours:\nCAM Members can enjoy exclusive early access to member-only tours of Fresh Air and Rooted in Memory during the day\, at 11 AM and 2 PM. SUMMARY:CAM After Dark: Gallery Talk with Niki Hildebrand
DESCRIPTION:CAM After Dark: Gallery Talk with Niki Hildebrand\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThursday\, May 14 \n6:30-7:30 PM \nFree with museum admission \nEnter the World of Magic\, Light\, and Sacred Geometry: Glassworks by Frederick G. Kahl through a focused gallery talk with artist Niki Hildebrand. \nHildebrand brings her perspective as a painter\, sculptor\, and stained glass artist to explore Kahl’s use of illusion\, material\, and sacred geometry\, revealing how light\, form\, and perception shape the work. \n\nSet within the exhibition\, this after-hours experience offers a deeper way to engage with the ideas behind the art.  \n\nMagic\, Light and Sacred Geometry: Glassworks by Frederick G. Kahl is the culmination of the artist’s decade-long inquiry into the immersive and meditative quality of light. Featuring glass works and drawings\, the exhibition reflects a career shaped by magic\, play\, and a sense of mystery. Also known as “the Great Fredini\,” Kahl’s practice has spanned visual and stage illusions\, yogic sideshow feats of sword swallowing\, and 3D scanned and printed portrait sculptures. \n\nREGISTER\n\nAbout the Speaker \nNiki Hildebrand is a painter\, stained glass artist\, and sculptor who holds an MFA from RISD (2001) and a BFA from the Chelsea College of Art and Design (1999). \nHildebrand\, born in London\, England\, now splits her time between her family base in Bellingham\, Washington\, and her chosen homes in Wrightsville Beach\, North Carolina\, and England. Hildebrand graduated from Chelsea College of Art in England and the Rhode Island School of Design. Her work has been shown in group and solo exhibitions internationally\, including four group shows in museums this year across the United States. \nHildebrand has received grants and awards\, including one from the WH Mellon Foundation. Engaged with the human condition\, her work captures sensory aspects of existence\, creating a play between solid visuals and indefinable matter. She is currently associated with the Coastal Designer Glass Studios. Born in London\, England\, Hildebrand lived and worked in Belfast\, Northern Ireland\, before coming to Wilmington\, USA. She has exhibited and sold works in England\, Ireland\, Sweden\, New Zealand\, and the United States. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearn more about the exhibition
