DESCRIPTION:Jazz@CAM: Matt Booth\nThursday\, March 4\n7–9 PM \nCAM Members: $40\nNot-Yet Members: $60\nStudents: $15 \nBassist\, composer\, and educator Matt Booth brings his versatile musicianship and adventurous approach to jazz to the Jazz@CAM stage. Joined by his quartet\, Booth will present an evening of expressive improvisation\, original compositions\, and dynamic ensemble playing. \nBased in Durham\, North Carolina\, Booth has spent more than 17 years performing across a wide range of musical styles. His career has taken him from his former home of New Orleans to stages around the world\, developing a sound informed by jazz\, rhythm and blues\, funk\, and the rich musical traditions of the Crescent City. \nHis latest album\, Sun Prints\, introduces a new quintet project. Booth has also released numerous recordings as co-leader of the piano trio Extended\, the quartet Palindromes\, and the guitar trio Some Antics. \nBooth has appeared at festivals including the Ottawa Jazz Festival\, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival\, South by Southwest\, and Burlington Jazz Festival. He has been nominated by OffBeat Magazine\, twice\, for Best Bass Player. \nFor eight years\, Booth toured with celebrated New Orleans organist and pianist John “Papa” Gros. He has also performed with artists including Aurora Nealand\, Anders Osborne\, Cyrille Aimée\, Johnny Vidacovich\, Leo Nocentelli\, Sean Jones\, Morgan James\, Jane Monheit\, John Sinclair\, and Big Chief Monk Boudreaux. \nExperience the Matt Booth Quartet for an evening shaped by inventive compositions\, rhythmic energy\, and the collaborative spirit of jazz. \nRegister \nJazz at CAM is funded in part by the generosity of these individuals: \nMr. M.
