His debut release ‘Sam Fribush Trio\, Vol. 1: Riverboat’ was produced by Charlie Hunter and recorded in North Carolina. The trio’s recent record ‘People Please’ was released March 15th\, 2024. Over the past few years\, Fribush has established himself as one of the country’s hottest young bandleaders and ‘People Please’ expands upon the trio’s deep affinity for crispy\, wah-wah driven funk\, hip-hop beats and sultry B3 ballads. In 2025\, he stepped out with DTF (Adam Deitch\, Ari Teitel and Sam Fribush) to release ‘Another Side of the Sound’ and put his stamp on the modern funk organ trio. \n\nBorn in Greensboro\, NC to a musical family\, Fribush began his professional career at a young age\, playing a variety of instruments including Steel Pan and Banjo.\n\n\n \n“To me\, Fribush epitomizes the old soul with a youthful spirit. Having grown up immersed in the sounds of everything from Dr. John to Tommy Jarrell\, his musical sensibility has an incredibly intuitive flow\, and his touch on the piano has always been beautifully unique. With that much natural talent\, he wouldn’t necessarily have had to push himself to the limits he has\, and it’s been a wonder to witness his evolution into one of the greatest working organ and keyboard players today. His sincerity cuts straight through every note he plays\, with a heartfelt smile and mischief-tinged eyes\, and his presence in any room feels like a big hug.” – Ric Robertson\n\n\n \n \n\n  \n\n \nJazz at CAM is sponsored in part by \n \nAnd through the generosity of these individuals:Dr. William MalloyMs. Maxine Terry

Their signature sound fuses rigorous scholarship with playful energy\, offering audiences a rich\, immersive experience that not only showcases coastal Perú’s Black music traditions but celebrates them as a vibrant way of life. \n\nThe ensemble’s insistently inventive program of traditional Afro-Peruvian music transformed by Gabriel Alegría’s highly personal synthesis of folkloric Afro-Peruvian rhythms\, jazz\, and other musical strains has led to a signature accomplishment: developing the band’s patented blend of deep scholarship and playfulness into a touring experience that conveys a vast knowledge of the music and\, perhaps more importantly\, transmits black music from coastal Perú as a way of life to its audiences. \n\nEach member of the Sextet is both a master musician and a dedicated and experienced educator. Over more than a decade of touring together\, the ensemble has shared the joy of Afro-Peruvian music across the globe\, both onstage and off. Their mission extends beyond performance through workshops\, master classes\, informal gatherings\, and even cooking demonstrations\, reflecting the inseparable bond between food and music in Afro-Peruvian culture. As trumpet legend Bobby Shew once commented\, “Hanging out with these people is a chapter in your life!” \nLearn more about the group here. \n\nJazz at CAM is sponsored in part by \n \nAnd through the generosity of these individuals:Dr. William MalloyMs. Maxine Terry

SUMMARY:Jazz@CAM: The Dominican Jazz Project
DESCRIPTION:CAM Members: $35\nNot-Yet Members: $55\nStudents: $15 \n\n\nThe Dominican Jazz Project began when Dominican-born jazz artist\, Guillo Carias\, invited American jazz pianist and composer\, Stephen Anderson\, to perform with him and jazz artists living in the Dominican Republic for the 2014 Jazzomania Jazz Festival in Santo Domingo\, Dominican Republic that was hosted by Tony Dominguez and Carlos Francisco Elías.  The concert and associated clinic went beautifully\, and the drummer\, Guy Frómeta\, invited Anderson to return to Santo Domingo to perform with him in his group for the Casa de Teatro Jazz Festival a few months later.  It was there that Anderson met Sandy Gabriel\, a nationally renowned tenor saxophonist.  Their collective friendship grew further with that experience\, and following the festival\, they agreed to record together.  The result was their 2016 self-titled CD release\, The Dominican Jazz Project\, that was recorded in the days following the UNC Summer Jazz Workshop where the artists served as guest faculty and where Anderson serves as director.  Soon after\, renowned Dominican percussionist\, David Almengod\, joined the group.  \n\n\n\nMUSICIANS:\nSandy Gabriel\, saxophones \nMayquel González\, trumpet \nCarlos Luis\, guitar/voice \nStephen Anderson\, piano  \nRamón Vázquez\, bass \nGuy Frómeta\, drums \nDavid Almengod\, percussion\, voice \n\n\n\nJazz at CAM is sponsored in part by \n \n  \nAnd through the generosity of these individuals:\nIsabella Hinds\nNancie and Jim Kennedy\nDr. William Malloy\nMs. Maxine Terry\nDr. Acquenetta Wheeler \n  \nREGISTER

SUMMARY:Angela Bingham Trio
DESCRIPTION:CAM Members: $35; Not Yet Members: $55 \n  \nJazz Vocalist Angela Bingham will perform with Grant Osborne on piano and Scott Sawyer on Guitar. Her trio will feature music from the American songbook and beyond\, with a focus on the great female composers & lyricists. \nRaleigh\, North Carolina based jazz vocalist Angela Bingham has been a singer her entire life. She began studying piano and performing from the American songbook at age 5 in her home of the San Francisco Bay Area. She studied jazz in her teens and early 20s under the direction of Roger Letson at De Anza College\, and went on to gain training through workshops and private lessons with some of the world’s most well known jazz vocalists and instrumentalists. \nBingham officially began her career in 1999 in Salt Lake City\, Utah. There\, she honed her craft working extensively with guitar virtuoso Kenji Aihara and Utah’s pre-eminent tenor saxophonist David Halliday. She left Utah and moved to New York City in 2005\, where she held down a monthly residency for five years at the now (sadly defunct) Total Wine Bar\, garnering a delightfully loyal Brooklyn fan base. During this time\, she began working with many of New York’s most heavyweight jazz musicians and sitting in and performing at venues large and small throughout the city including Birdland\, Smalls\, and others. She also held down a steady performance schedule at New York’s famed Bar Next Door\, a coveted venue for New York jazz musicians. \nBingham’s singing is characterized by the qualities of honest expression\, solid swinging and an emphasis on the blues. Of her decision to sing jazz\, Angela says\, “First and foremost\, I am an entertainer and a storyteller\, and I use my voice to help people feel their emotions. I want to bring a message of healing through these stories set to music. Jazz is the perfect format for this\, because the stories can go in many musical directions. I know that my job is to sing the story\, to approach the music as an improvisational musician\, and to commune with the audience through laughter\, tears and everything in between. It is not enough to have a pretty voice. It goes way beyond that. It’s letting your audience feel that you are in this with them.” \n  \nJazz at CAM is sponsored in part by  \n                \nIsabella Hinds\nNancie and James Kennedy\nDr. William Malloy and Maxine Terry\nDr. Acquenetta Wheeler \n  \nREGISTER \n  \nFor questions or concerns regarding accessibility\, please contact Georgia Mastroieni\, Deputy Director of Operations at (910) 726-9492 or georgia@cameronartmuseum.org
