SUMMARY:FlowILM
DESCRIPTION:Day and Night at FlowILM: A Celebration of Light\, Sound & Movement\nJoin us on Saturday\, October 19\, from 3:30 to 9:30 PM for the fourth annual FlowILM at Cameron Art Museum. This free outdoor event is a celebration of light\, highlighting the intersection of art and science with a focus on local and global water issues. FlowILM offers a diverse lineup of artists\, scientists\, local non-profits\, and UNCW labs/programs\, featuring educational and family-oriented activities throughout the museum grounds. Experience live performances\, dance\, sculpture\, installations\, and light/sound work inspired by ecological and bio art\, biomimicry\, and interactive systems centered around CAM’s pond. \nNew to FlowILM this year is a short film screening in our Weyerhaeuser reception hall. Dislocated/Dislocada features 3-minute works created by twenty artists from around the globe\, inspired by the four elements and climate change\, addressing the uncertainties and challenges of global warming and its impact on human life and our planet. \nThe day begins at 3:30 PM with a screening of Dislocated/Dislocada in CAM’s Weyerhaeuser Reception Hall\, followed by outdoor activities at 4 PM\, including live performances\, dance\, sculpture\, installations\, and light/sound work inspired by our relationships with water and aquatic ecosystems. As night falls\, the schedule continues with exciting events. \nFrom 4-8 PM (every 30 minutes) in the Courtyard\, Chelsea Loew hosts a Deep Listening music space. At 7 PM\, CAM’s exterior will be alive with music and light/projections showcased by Grant Stewart and Jeremy Roberts. Following this\, at 7:45 PM at the Arbor\, Karola Luttringhaus and Maurice Moore will perform Letters to Water. Sayantani Dagupsta’s creative writing students will display letters in various locations with installations and drawings by Maurice Moore. Finally\, at 8:30 PM at Pancoe’s Exterior\, Gene Felice and team will present the performance Biota IV. \nKimchi Taco Fritts & Jeremiah’s Italian Ice will be serving along with offerings from CAM Café. \nWe look forward to seeing you at FlowILM for a day and night of art\, science\, and exploration of water-related issues! \nLearn more about FlowILM and see past events here. \nThis event is produced by the Coaction Lab at The University of North Carolina Wilmington and the Cameron Art Museum and sponsored by the UNCW Office for Applied Learning & High Impact Practices\, and Duke Energy.
