DESCRIPTION:Nested Walking Meditation with Kelly Purcell\, RYT200\n***UPDATE: SOLD OUT \n\n\nThursday\, January 29 | 6:30 – 7:30 PM\n\n\nCAM Courtyard\n\n\nFREE with registration – $5 donation appreciated\n\n\n\nExperience a peaceful\, immersive walking meditation among the glowing nests of Meredith Connelly’s Nested: Where Light Gathers and Nature Holds installation in the CAM Courtyard. Guided by Wilmington Yoga instructor Kelly Purcell (RYT-200)\, this silent meditation includes a soothing sound bath of crystal singing bowls\, designed to reset the nervous system and deepen awareness of neutral and positive sensations.\n\n\n\nParticipants will move slowly through the illuminated courtyard\, reflecting and sharing on the interconnected nature of the artwork. As Kelly describes it\, “Soak in the sounds and vibrations of the crystal singing bowls to support a deeper meditative experience as you enjoy and walk through the exhibition.”\n\n\n\nWhile evenings can be chilly\, fire pits will add warmth to this special outdoor experience.\n\n\n\nREGISTER\nLearn more about Nested: Where Light Gathers and Nature Holds exhibition here. \n\n\nAbout the Instructor\n\n\nKelly Purcell is a certified yoga teacher and Community Resiliency Model® instructor who specializes in trauma-informed practices and sound healing. When she’s not teaching\, Kelly enjoys reading\, beach walks\, live music\, and time outdoors.

DESCRIPTION:Rising Stars Exhibition is on view from February 7\, 2026\, to March 1\, 2026 \nCelebrate the creativity of Southeastern North Carolina’s young artists during the opening weekend of the Rising Stars student art exhibition at Cameron Art Museum. \nRising Stars\, organized in collaboration with schools across the eight-county radius we serve\, showcases the exceptional talent of high school students in Southeast North Carolina. Join us in celebrating the creativity and innovation in our schools! \nParticipating students and their families can enjoy free museum admission throughout the run of the exhibition. \nOPENING RECEPTION\nA reception for student artists and their families will be held on February 7 from 11 AM-2 PM. During the opening reception\, exhibiting students and their families are invited to explore the galleries and view the varied responses to the natural world by contemporary North Carolina artists.  Enjoy hands-on art activities inspired by historical landscape painters and complete a mini masterpiece to take home. \nLearn more about our current exhibitions here.

Kahl\, presented by Joe Grant\, Executive Director of Starworks in Star\, NC. \nMagic\, Light and Sacred Geometry: Glassworks by Frederick G. Kahl is the culmination of the artist’s decade-long inquiry into the immersive and meditative quality of light. Featuring glass works and drawings\, the exhibition reflects a career shaped by magic\, play\, and a sense of mystery. \nAlso known as “the Great Fredini\,” Kahl’s practice has spanned visual and stage illusions\, yogic sideshow feats of sword swallowing\, and 3D scanned and printed portrait sculptures. In this lecture\, Joe Grant explores how Kahl’s current focus on sacred geometries comes together to create meditative\, immersive experiences — and what that means for the works on view. \n\nREGISTER\n\nAbout the Speaker \nJoe Grant is the Executive Director of Starworks\, where he has spent over 11 years playing a central role in shaping their glass program into one of the Southeast’s leading educational and production studios\, fostering collaboration among artists\, students\, and the community. \nAn accomplished glass artist\, Joe has received numerous awards\, including a residency at the Creative Glass Center of America and a North Carolina Arts Council Fellowship. His work has been exhibited at venues including the Carrack Modern Art\, Turchin Center for the Visual Arts\, and GreenHill Center in North Carolina; Gallery A in Richmond\, Virginia; Gallery OneOne in Cincinnati\, Ohio; Minnetrista in Muncie\, Indiana; University Galleries in Bloomington\, Illinois; and Marx-Saunders Gallery in Chicago\, Illinois.
