DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Openings: Cameron Art Museum: The Collection & From Mountains to Sea\nFriday\, November 7 | 6-9 PM\nThis fall\, CAM comes alive with two new exhibitions: Cameron Art Museum: The Collection & From Mountains to Sea. Celebrate both with this dual-exhibition opening night! These exhibitions showcase the breadth of North Carolina art\, from Romare Bearden to contemporary voices of the western mountains. \nWe also invite you into the contemplative space of Living Waters\, an installation that calls us to consider the fundamental significance of water to human life. \n\nFort Lowell Records will spin a music set in the galleria from 6-9 PM. You’ll hear some tunes from the EP This Water is Life\, which highlights new hip-hop/ indie rock music from artists in Southeastern North Carolina. Music fuses with the art and our universal need for water.\n\n\nFrom 6:30 to 8pm\, End of Days Distillery\, a local distillery\, will be offering free tastings of their Wilmington-made spirits.\n\n\nCAM Café will be open late for a Friday night light bites and drinks menu\, available for purchase from 6-8:30 PM. \n\nEnjoy an inspiring night at CAM celebrating our community\, our environment\, and the incredible new art on view!\n\n\n\nMembers: FREE\nNot-Yet Members: $15\nStudents & Educators: FREE \nNON-MEMBER REGISTRATION \nMEMBER REGISTRATION \nMember Preview Tours \nMembers are invited from 10 AM to 5 PM to get an early sneak peek at these two new exhibitions. Kahl and the outdoor installation debut of Nested: Where Light Gathers and Nature Holds by Meredith Connelly. \nInside the galleries\, explore Frederick Kahl’s radiant glass forms in Magic\, Light\, and Sacred Geometry—a decade-long exploration of light\, reflection\, and craftsmanship. DESCRIPTION:Nested Walking Meditation with Kelly Purcell\, RYT200\n***UPDATE: SOLD OUT \n\n\nThursday\, January 29 | 6:30 – 7:30 PM\n\n\nCAM Courtyard\n\n\nFREE with registration – $5 donation appreciated\n\n\n\nExperience a peaceful\, immersive walking meditation among the glowing nests of Meredith Connelly’s Nested: Where Light Gathers and Nature Holds installation in the CAM Courtyard. Guided by Wilmington Yoga instructor Kelly Purcell (RYT-200)\, this silent meditation includes a soothing sound bath of crystal singing bowls\, designed to reset the nervous system and deepen awareness of neutral and positive sensations.\n\n\n\nParticipants will move slowly through the illuminated courtyard\, reflecting and sharing on the interconnected nature of the artwork. When she’s not teaching\, Kelly enjoys reading\, beach walks\, live music\, and time outdoors.

Join us in celebrating the creativity and innovation in our schools! \nParticipating students and their families can enjoy free museum admission throughout the run of the exhibition. \nOPENING RECEPTION\nA reception for student artists and their families will be held on February 7 from 11 AM-2 PM. Kahl is the culmination of the artist’s decade-long inquiry into the immersive and meditative quality of light. Featuring glass works and drawings\, the exhibition reflects a career shaped by magic\, play\, and a sense of mystery. \nAlso known as “the Great Fredini\,” Kahl’s practice has spanned visual and stage illusions\, yogic sideshow feats of sword swallowing\, and 3D scanned and printed portrait sculptures. In this lecture\, Joe Grant explores how Kahl’s current focus on sacred geometries comes together to create meditative\, immersive experiences — and what that means for the works on view. \n\nREGISTER\n\nAbout the Speaker \nJoe Grant is the Executive Director of Starworks\, where he has spent over 11 years playing a central role in shaping their glass program into one of the Southeast’s leading educational and production studios\, fostering collaboration among artists\, students\, and the community. \nAn accomplished glass artist\, Joe has received numerous awards\, including a residency at the Creative Glass Center of America and a North Carolina Arts Council Fellowship. His work has been exhibited at venues including the Carrack Modern Art\, Turchin Center for the Visual Arts\, and GreenHill Center in North Carolina; Gallery A in Richmond\, Virginia; Gallery OneOne in Cincinnati\, Ohio; Minnetrista in Muncie\, Indiana; University Galleries in Bloomington\, Illinois; and Marx-Saunders Gallery in Chicago\, Illinois.

Kahl. \nMagic\, Light and Sacred Geometry: Glassworks by Frederick G. Kahl is the culmination of the artist’s decade-long inquiry into the immersive and meditative quality of light. Featuring glass works and drawings\, the exhibition reflects a career shaped by magic\, play\, and a sense of mystery. \nAlso known as “the Great Fredini\,” Kahl’s practice has spanned visual and stage illusions\, yogic sideshow feats of sword swallowing\, and 3D scanned and printed portrait sculptures. In this lecture\, Joe Grant explores how Kahl’s current focus on sacred geometries comes together to create meditative\, immersive experiences — and what that means for the works on view. \n\nREGISTER\n\nAbout the Speaker \nNiki Hildebrand is a painter\, stained glass artist\, and sculptor who holds an MFA from RISD (2001) and a BFA from the Chelsea College of Art and Design (1999). \nHildebrand\, born in London\, England\, now splits her time between her family base in Bellingham\, Washington\, and her chosen homes in Wrightsville Beach\, North Carolina\, and England. Hildebrand graduated from Chelsea College of Art in England and the Rhode Island School of Design. Her work has been shown in group and solo exhibitions internationally\, including four group shows in museums this year across the United States. \nHildebrand has received grants and awards\, including one from the WH Mellon Foundation. Engaged with the human condition\, her work captures sensory aspects of existence\, creating a play between solid visuals and indefinable matter. She is currently associated with the Coastal Designer Glass Studios. Born in London\, England\, Hildebrand lived and worked in Belfast\, Northern Ireland\, before coming to Wilmington\, USA. She has exhibited and sold works in England\, Ireland\, Sweden\, New Zealand\, and the United States. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearn more about the exhibition
