Join us in celebrating the creativity and innovation in our schools! \nParticipating students and their families can enjoy free museum admission throughout the run of the exhibition. \nOPENING RECEPTION\nA reception for student artists and their families will be held on February 7 from 11 AM-2 PM. Guided by Wilmington Yoga instructor Kelly Purcell (RYT-200)\, this silent meditation includes a soothing sound bath of crystal singing bowls\, designed to reset the nervous system and deepen awareness of neutral and positive sensations.\n\n\n\nParticipants will move slowly through the illuminated courtyard\, reflecting and sharing on the interconnected nature of the artwork. Dr. Johnson states that her mission is to “engage in activities that promote the stewardship of the natural\, historic\, and cultural resources in North Carolina as part of the larger global community; foster scholarship and activism in the areas of women’s and girls’ health; and to actively participate in the support and growth of Historically Black Colleges and Universities.” \nDurham-born artist Stephen Hayes\, a graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design\, is the recipient of the 1858 Prize for Contemporary South Art and teaches at Duke University. He is known for his figurative work\, specifically depicting African American experience. His work has been featured at the National Cathedral\, Winston Salem State University\, Duke University\, CAM Raleigh\, Rosa Parks Museum\, African American Museum of Philadelphia\, and Harvey B.
