All educators and administrators (all ages and disciplines) are welcome and encouraged to attend and explore fun ways to bring art into your classroom.\n \nMeet Environmental Educators Jessica Stitt and Rachel Bentley. They will share information about the NC Environmental Education Program\, which is designed to increase environmental literacy\, provide practice in environmental education teaching methods\, and foster community leadership.\n\n \nBrush up on your art skills with artists Todd Carignan and Carolyn Faulkner. Todd will guide you in bringing energy and engagement to your lessons through the use of comic characters\, while Carolyn will share practical techniques for blending and shading using the colored pencils readily available in any classroom. DESCRIPTION:Free; Pre-registration Required \n  \nWe are thrilled to have Mary D. Williams as our guest artist and contributor for this workshop. This event will focus on the talents of Mary D. Williams\, the current exhibitions as well as social studies and theatre. \nClosing the Gap is a unique professional development workshop that introduces teachers to art integration and active learning in New Hanover\, Brunswick\, Bladen\, Columbus\, Pender\, Onslow\, Sampson\, and Duplin counties. These workshops address the growing achievement gaps through arts integration. \nClosing the Gap provides teachers with valuable Continuing Education Units (CEUs)\, which they can use to maintain certification.
