DESCRIPTION:Free; Pre-registration Required \n  \nWe are thrilled to have Mary D. Williams as our guest artist and contributor for this workshop. This event will focus on the talents of Mary D. Williams\, the current exhibitions as well as social studies and theatre. \nClosing the Gap is a unique professional development workshop that introduces teachers to art integration and active learning in New Hanover\, Brunswick\, Bladen\, Columbus\, Pender\, Onslow\, Sampson\, and Duplin counties. These workshops address the growing achievement gaps through arts integration. \nClosing the Gap provides teachers with valuable Continuing Education Units (CEUs)\, which they can use to maintain certification. Participants also receive brand-new lesson plans that demonstrate how to integrate art and active learning into science\, technology\, engineering\, math\, language arts\, history\, as connected to CAM’s exhibition and permanent collection. \n  \n  \nREGISTER \n  \n  \nImage Credit: Photograph of Mary D. SUMMARY:Sunset Performance Series: Mary D. Williams
DESCRIPTION:Free \n  \nWith a voice reminiscent of Mahalia Jackson\, her dynamic vocals soothe troubled minds and lift the heavy hearts of those who witness her awesome performances. A native of Raleigh\, NC\, Mary is no stranger to the gospel scene. She has been ministering solo at local churches\, festivals and various events for many years\, developing a strong following from performances with such artists as Bobby Jones\, Sister Cantaloupe\, Lee Williams and the Spiritual QC’s\, Luther Barnes\, Keith “Wonder Boy” Johnson\, as well as appearances on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN). \nOther performances include ministering at the National Council of Negro Women\, Inc. in Washington\, DC\, the Walnut Creek Amphitheater in Raleigh\, NC\, Duke University Chapel\, Bobby Jones Gospel Recording Retreat in Las Vegas\, traveling with Duke Divinity Professor Dr. Timothy Tyson and the United Methodist Western Conference. She received Female Vocalist of the Year at the NC Gospel Announcers Guild’s Prestige Awards ceremony. \n  \nSponsored in part by
