Veterans Creative Arts Program “Collaging Our Stories” Art Class with NC Collage Artist Marcus Dawson:
Discover the creative, expressive art of collage. Through this class, we will learn how to create unique and powerful visuals with elements from everyday life, such as found materials, photographs, type, and so much more. In creating these collages, we will incorporate texture, color, shape, and patterns. You’ll also explore composition, looking at balance and shapes to create your very own masterpieces. This class is more than just art; it’s a chance to practice self-care and experience healing through this unique art form.
Marcus Dawson is a North Carolina collage artist whose mission is to spread love and light through analog collage. What started off as a self-care practice became his passion for creating unique art with paper that included bright colors and vibrant visual storytelling. He often incorporates images of people of color among whimsical landscapes dotted with colorful flowers, rolling hills, and the heavens above. His work has been featured in Create! Magazine, Wilder Collage, Southern Cultures magazine, Collage Care: The Method, and many more.
