Soulful Liberation: Juneteenth Through Art and Word
Saturday, June 28 | 2–3:30 PM

Join us in the galleries for a Soulful Liberation, a discussion through ekphrastic poetry with poet and musician Mahlaynee Cooper, a.k.a. Carrie Assata. Using the powerful works on view in We Belong Here, we’ll investigate questions on freedom as we imagine through the eyes of our ancestors. With poetry readings and writing prompts, we will reflect on the history of Juneteenth and share reflections on cultural and social questions of today.
