Monument takes inspiration from Boundless, the new public sculpture on CAM’s grounds by Stephen Hayes, and asks how contemporary artists engage with the Civil War and its immediate aftermath. This exhibition features the work of Hayes, Sonya Clark, Stephen Hayes, Augustus Saint-Gaudens, Kara Walker and other contemporary artists and positions their work in dialogue with the objects and artifacts that they acknowledge, question, and confront in their work.
