Join us November 24 at 2 PM for an exploration of the power of ink and unique materials in contemporary art.
Dive into the fascinating world of materials and mediums in contemporary art with a special tour of Thomas Sayre’s Four Walls exhibition. Sayre’s boundary-pushing work uses unconventional materials like smoke, fire, water, tar, and bullets. As carbon becomes ink, universal symbols and stories unfold.
Following this discussion, join us in our reception hall for a screening of The Colour of Ink, a documentary that reveals the power and mystery of ink through Toronto-based ink maker Jason Logan. Watch as he transforms foraged materials such as wild-weeds, berries, bark, flowers, rocks, and rust into unique inks that he sends to an eclectic range of artists worldwide. As the inks take on a life of their own, his playful alchemy paints a story of color that reconnects us to the earth and returns us to a childlike sense of wonder.
