Join us for a discussion in the Monument exhibition with art historian Ewa Matyczyk, PhD. Ewa’s research and teaching explores the social and political context surrounding art, asking important questions around commemoration and sometimes omission of histories.
Ewa Matyczyk is Assistant Professor of Modern and Contemporary Art History at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. She holds a PhD in the History of Art and Architecture from Boston University, and an M.A. in Art History from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Her research interests include issues of memory, identity, public space, community-building, and the relationships between public art, the built environment, and their intersections with the theory and practice of everyday life.
