The Great Outdoors: Painting Landscapes
This course covers the fundamentals of painting landscapes with a focus on composition, texture, light, and atmosphere. You will build confidence through hands-on practice with color mixing, layering, and brushwork. Beyond mastering the basics, you’ll develop the skills needed to capture the natural world and develop a painting style that is uniquely your own.

Oil or Acrylic paint: Titanium White, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Raw Umber, Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Red, Alizarin Crimson, Prussian or Ultramarine Blue
Optional colors: Indian Yellow, Paynes Gray, Lemon Yellow, Sap Green
If using oil paint: Odorless mineral spirits, Walnut or Linseed Oil
Jar/container with lid
Palette - Paper or Glass
Rags or paper towels
1-2 metal palette knives
Flat and/or Filbert brushes: #1, #2, #4, #8, #10, 2-inch
2 canvases - any size (recommended: 16x20 or 18x24)
