Seeing Abstractly

Composing abstractly begins with seeing abstractly. Combine spontaneous experimentation with deliberate construction to reinforce fundamental techniques that enable artists to break down and simplify compositions. Practice builds through collage, drawing, and painting.

Instructor will provide materials and discuss below list and alternative materials on first day of class.
Assortment Acrylic Paint
4oz tubes (inexpensive brands – BASICs, for example - or any you have on hand) Primary Colors – red, yellow, blue
Dioxazine Purple, Burnt Umber, Black, White
Assortment long handled bristle brushes, round and flat (inexpensive) larger better than smaller
2" or larger broad nylon brush
14 x 17 or larger mixed media pad (will add substrates as class progresses)
