Pattern: A Principle of Design

Pattern is one of the seven Principles of Art, often overlooked in creating compositions that range from realism to non-objective. You can make any of your ideas into a pattern. Consider Klimt, Kusama, Warhol, and others, who incorporate pattern into their work. A good way to explore Pattern is to rework a painting by adding this unexpected element. We will analyze how artists have used patterns in their work and apply those ideas to our own compositions.
