Painting with Black White and Gray

This class introduces you to the concepts of tone and value. These colors can be used to create depth, dimension, and contrast. Understanding the grayscale is essential for mastering light and shadow. The scale will be created by mixing various shades from white and black. Creating smooth transitions.. The techniques you will learn; shading and blending, layering colors, and dry brush.Your finished painting will be from O’Keefe’s “Morning Glory with Black”. A little color is used to enhance the flower.

Quality acrylic paints. NO Basics acrylic paint please. A variety of sizes of acrylic painting brushes. 16”x20” canvas or smaller but larger than 8x10. Instructor will supply mixed media paper to create your grayscale.
