Inspired by Mary Cassatt – Color Printing with Drypoint Plates
Gathering inspiration from Mary Cassatt’s color prints in CAM’s current exhibit, students will learn a simplified version of her process. First we’ll create a drypoint plate by scratching an image directly into the plate. Next learn to ink the plate and print “à la poupée.” À la Poupée refers to applying different colored ink to one plate and printing all off the colors at once to create a multi-colored print. From start to finish, students will learn the basics of plate making, inking, and printing.
