Alla Prima Portraits

The term "alla prima" is Italian for "at once" or "at first attempt". This technique is often used in a single sitting. Some of the more famous painters from that period who worked in an alla prima style are as diverse as Paul Cezanne, John Singer Sargent, Sarrolla and Monet.
Complete a portrait in one sitting. Learn how to capture the likeness of a person with fewer brush strokes. Students will learn color mixing, composition, and how to capture facial features.
