As part of the community respite from the week that was, break your cabin fever at CAM on Sunday September 23 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, CAM Cafe is serving a limited brunch menu 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. During this free day see our two newest exhibitions: "A Time When Art is Everywhere: teamLab" in the Hughes Wing, and "Like and Likeness" in Studio 1.

CANCELED: Dance Works-in-Progress Showcase

The Dance Cooperative, in association with CAM, provides informal showings to give working choreographers and dancers a place to present works in progress for review and critique in a nurturing environment. The public is invited to witness the creative process through its many stages and provide assistance to help the creator grow the works to realize their concepts to the fullest potential. If you are interested in presenting work, e-mail: dancecooperative@gmail.com no later than the Monday preceding each showcase. Free and open to the public.

Looking for something to do with the kiddos while school is still out? Come bring your little ones to the CAM for story reading and art making! Story Explorers will expand its usual time and offerings to include several tables of art supplies for children to make their own creations. Get the kids (and yourselves!) out of the house for some fun and socializing! (https://www.facebook.com/events/211259282901691)No pre-registration necessary! Parental Supervision Required at all times. Admission by donation! Weyerhaeuser Reception Hall.

Join in as "Chautauqua" literary journal launches Issue 15, “Wild & Tame”. The journal is edited by a team of UNCW creative writing students. The event will feature selected readings from the journal and original music by the duo Gause and other local singer-songwriters. Free and open to the public, the event is held in collaboration with UNCW Creative Writing Department and Cameron Art Museum. Weyerhaeuser Reception Hall. Refreshments available for purchase from CAM Café.

CAM Café: Perry Smith, guitarist

Enjoy music by Perry Smith (www.perrysguitar.com) while you dine at CAM Café (910.777.2363). Perry, a multi-instrumentalist specializing in guitar and including hand percussion, oud, mandolin, Native American flute, key boards and vocals. Perry accompanies dance classes at UNCW, facilitates drumming programs for special populations, and teaches lessons from his studio at the Art Works. He also plays regularly with Cosmic Groove Lizards, Axiom, Zion, Sea Pans and Narayani. CAM Café reservations are always suggested and appreciated.

Jazz: Lynn Grissett Quartet-SOLD OUT!

Returning to Jazz @ The CAM by popular demand, trumpeter and saxophonist Lynn Grissett brings a new version of his quartet with Jason Foureman on bass, Jeremy "Bean" Clemons on drums and Ernest Turner on piano performing traditional and modern jazz, and original compositions. Grissett has performed around the world as both a solo artist and as part of elite level ensembles. His many musical accomplishments include performing with Winard Harper, Ellis, Branford and Delfeayo Marsalis, Nile Rodgers, Trombone Shorty, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson, Ledisi, Cyrus Chestnut, and Prince to name a few of the musicians on his extensive performance list.

Purchase seats on CAM’s website, by phone, and at CAM’s Visitor Services desk. CAM/CFJS Members: $12.00 for, Non-members: $20.00, Students with valid college ID $10.00 (tax and fees not included). complimentary drink ticket for all registered participants, Gypsy Jazz music by Cafe Nouveau (Alex Chamyan, violin, Chris Luther, guitar and Sean Martin, guitar,inspired by the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm) and more! Full Café menu with extended appetizer options available.
