Concert: Ed Stephenson and the Paco Band

Ed Stephenson (https://edwardstephenson.com) and the Paco Band is a Spanish music and Nuevo flamenco ensemble performing original Nuevo Flamenco compositions and music by Paco de Lucia, Ottmar Liebert, and Isaac Albeniz, all in the band’s signature flamenco style. All this with the passion of Flamenco dancer Rachel Meth. Just added: Belly Dancer JiJi will add another dimension of Flamenco and dance to the concert. Making it a show not to miss, with Cat Albanese on percussion and vocals, Graham Drew on bass, Ed Stephenson and Ryan Johnson on guitar. Purchase seats on CAM’s website--where you can watch a video clip of the performers, by phone and at CAM’s Visitor Services desk. Based out of Raleigh, NC Canadian guitarist and Alanna recording artist, Ed (Stefanyshyn) Stephenson’s virtuosity extends throughout the Classical Spanish, Flamenco, and Flamenco Fusion genres. He has performed as a soloist, a member of the North Carolina Guitar Quartet and the Paco Band. The group’s cd “Rosamaria” was released in April 2015.

JAZZ: Al Strong Quintet

Al Strong (http://alstrongmusic.com) wowed the audience with his driving jazz during the 2015-16 season and is back by popular demand. Steeped in jazz, Strong (Trumpet/Flugelhorn/Effects) takes the stage with Sean Mason on Keyboard, Alan Thompson on Saxophone, Butler Knowles on Bass and Jeremy “Bean” Clemons on Drums for an exciting evening of music. Al Strong is a co-founder of the Durham-based jazz presenting non-profit The Art of Cool Project (http://theartofcoolproject.com/) which presents the annual Art of Cool Festival (http://aocfestival.org).

Presented by Cameron Art Museum and the Cape Fear Jazz Society (CJFS, www.capefearjazzsociety.org. Hear musicians from Wilmington and around the state performing a range of jazz genres in an intimate “close up and personal” performance setting for your listening pleasure.
