Jazz@CAM: Paolo André Gualdi

Thursday, 12/5/2019
6:30PM-8:00PM
Where jazz meets classical is Paolo André Gualdi (www.pagualdi.com) who says “I always like to joke about the fact that, as a musician, I always felt a little bit like ‘Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’.” In the last three decades Gualdi has kept classical and jazz music as separate entities in his day-to-day activity as a performer. Recently he finally had an opportunity to blend those two elements into a very exciting project. Following the steps of the great Jacques Loussier, George Cables and others, Gualdi put together a program of works that represent the crossover between classical and jazz genres. From Bach to Debussy, he will present jazz “reinterpretation” of famous classical compositions, with the invaluable assistance of Natalie Boeyink on bass, Jon Hill on drums, and Danijela Žeželj-Gualdi on violin. A first and very unique program for the Jazz@CAM series, not to be missed!

Purchase seats on CAM’s website, by phone and at CAM’s Visitor Services desk.
CAM/CFJS Members: $17.00 for, Non-members: $25.00, Students with valid college ID $12.00 (tax and fees not included). Weyerhaeuser Reception Hall. The eight-concert series is presented by Cameron Art Museum and the Cape Fear Jazz Society.

The popular eight-concert series celebrates its tenth season! Offering great music from Wilmington area favorites and musicians from around the state in concert playing a range of jazz genres in an intimate listening room "close up and personal" performance setting for your pleasure.

CAM Café MUSIC: Julie Rehder, harp

Thursday, 12/12/2019
6:00PM-8:00PM
Enjoy music by harpist Julie Rehder while you dine at CAM Café, the restaurant serves dinner Thursday evenings from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm and offers half-price bottles of wine. When Wilmington native, Julie Rehder, placed a harp on her shoulder for the first time eight years ago she knew her decades as a pianist and singer prepared her for that moment. "Now I can't be in the same room with my harps without stopping to play them," she says.

Unlike digitized music, the vibrations of the long strings of the harp are felt by those in close proximity, including the musician playing it. The harp is known for creating a peaceful mood for intimate conversations and quiet reflection but can also get toes tapping when traditional Celtic tunes are played.

Reservations are always suggested and appreciated at the Café phone, 910.777.2363.

Julie is a founding member of the Coastal Carolinas Chapter of the American Harp Society and also a Certified Music Practitioner (CMP), having completed the Music for Healing and Transition's extensive two-year training which prepares musicians to play at the bedside of patients with various medical conditions. Recently retired as a marketing professional in the health care industry, Julie is looking forward to sharing her love for the harp with people of all ages at all stages of life.
