JAZZ @ The CAM: La Fiesta Latin Jazz Quintet

The series kicks off the new year with a Latin Jazz beat! La Fiesta Latin Jazz Quintet was formed in 2010 by band leader, saxophonist, clarinetist and composer Gregg Gelb (http://gregggelb.com/index.html). The quintet includes: Beverly Botsford on percussion, Ramon Ortiz on drums, Jim Crew on piano and Andy Kleindienst on bass.

The repertoire of this high energy group is authentic Latin Jazz made famous by renowned musicians that include Tito Puente, Mongo Santamaria, Buena Vista Social Club, and Dizzy Gillespie, plus original tunes by Gelb. La Fiesta’s first recording "La Fiesta Latin Jazz Quintet" was released in September 2016. Purchase seats on CAM’s website, by phone, and at CAM’s Visitor Services desk. CAM/CFJS Members: $12.00, Non-members: $20.00, Students with valid college ID $10.00 (tax and fees not included), This is a special 2nd Thurs. concert date. Weyerhaeuser Reception Hall.

The eight-concert series is presented by CAM and the Cape Fear Jazz Society. Before and after the concert enjoy dinner and drinks at CAM Café (910.777.2363). Café reservations are always suggested and appreciated.



Floating Lantern Ceremony

It’s Important to Make More Time for Remembrance, Reflection and Gratitude AND NOW YOU HAVE IT. Please join us for our rescheduled Floating Lantern Ceremony Sunday, January 13, 2019. Create your lantern with a message of Remembrance, Reflection and Gratitude, and as we roll into 2019, add your hopes and dreams for the new year. If you can’t join us in January, drop by the museum and purchase your lantern sleeve at the Museum Shop. Use our supplies to personalize your lantern and we would be honored to float it for you.

Live music on the grounds enhance the late afternoon/early evening setting. Festive food and beverages from CAM Café available for purchase. Lantern sleeves are available for purchase at CAM’s Museum Shop $10.00 through Jan. 12, $15.00 on Jan. 13.

Free and open to the public, donations are appreciated
Lantern messaging and decorating begins at 4:00 pm
Floating begins at 5:00 pm and continues until 7:00 pm
Museum, CAM Café--in the Café music 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm with Folkstone String Band,and Exhibitions open until 7:00 pm

Learn about our Japanese print exhibition through fun printmaking activities. Explore "Along the Eastern Sea Road: Hiroshige’s Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō" and create your own original prints. Kids @ CAM is fun for all ages! Parental supervision required at all times. No pre-registration necessary. Suggested donation: $5.00 per child. Stop in for lunch at CAM Café.

Dance Works-in-Progress Showcase

The Dance Cooperative, in association with CAM, provides informal showings to give working choreographers and dancers a place to present works in progress for review and critique in a nurturing environment. The public is invited to witness the creative process through its many stages and provide assistance to help the creator grow the works to realize their concepts to the fullest potential.
