Smart, engaging young adult theatre, "The Diary Play" (2014) presents four distinct teen voices dealing with issues of love, maturity, growth, and identity. The Diary Play is an original play created by Mouths of Babes Theatre (https://www.mouthsofbabestheatre.com) using the words from four women's diaries during their teen years. The play is an experiment with verbatim and documentary theatre as it uses the actual words from these diaries (edited, but not embellished) for the creation of verbatim monologues.

We hear the words and experiences of: Elizabeth, who undergoes the trials and tribulations of first love; Galina, a young woman from Turkmenistan recovering from an act of sexual violence; Pam, who records details of school, family, farming, dating, and a Peter Frampton concert; and of Susanne, a young woman struggling to reconcile her identities as an actor and as a committed Christian.
Purchase seats on CAM's website, by phone and at CAM's Visitor Services desk: CAM Members: $10.00, Non-Members: $15.00, Students with valid high school/college ID: $5.00 (tax and fees not included). Weyerhaeuser Reception Hall.

Group Singing: Wilmington Sacred Harp Singers

Sunday, 11/26/2017
1:30PM-4:00PM
1:30 pm: Instruction for beginners
2:00 - 4 pm: Group Singing, all
Songbooks provided, beginners welcome!

Wilmington Sacred Harp Singers (http://bit.ly/WilmNCSacredHarp) presents a traditional Sacred Harp Singing and invite you to join in the music and raise your voice in song! This dynamic form of a cappella social singing dates back to Colonial America, using a modern reprint of the 1844 songbook "The Sacred Harp". Sacred Harp and related shape-note styles are the oldest continuous singing traditions in the United States. Surviving as a living tradition in parts of the South, notably Georgia and Alabama, Sacred Harp music has been discovered by new generations of singers who have spread the heritage across North America and to Australia and Europe.

The music is loud, vigorous and intense. It is meant to be sung, not just observed. No previous experience is necessary. Learn more about Sacred Harp singing at fasola.org. Free and open to the public, Weyerhaeuser Reception Hall.
