Welcome to Jazz@CAM series the spirited, stylish and engaging Sidecar Social Club (www.sidecarsocialclub.com). The group soars through numerous genres effortlessly, their energetic sets taking you to colorful and surprising places with jazz standards from the Great American Songbook and a number of infectious originals sprinkled in for good measure. SSC delivers a fresh take on songs old and new including the gritty, riotous underbelly of speakeasy jazz, the bizarre cabarets of wartime Berlin, the sounds of Latin American dance halls and the big band era to soulful R&B and fifties rock. Come experience Sidecar Social Club with Lisa Veronica Wood on vocals, Jim Crew on piano, accordion and clarinet, FO Finch, III on saxophones, Aaron Bittikofer on bass and Ed Butler on drums and banjo, this group will have you swaying.

Purchase seats on CAM’s website, by phone and at CAM’s Visitor Services desk. CAM/CFJS Members: $17.00 for, Non-members: $25.00, Students with valid college ID $12.00 (tax and fees not included). Weyerhaeuse Reception Hall.

The popular eight-concert series returns for its tenth season! Offering great music from Wilmington area favorites and musicians from around the state in concert playing a range of jazz genres in an intimate listening room "close up and personal" performance setting for your pleasure. Presented by Cameron Art Museum and the Cape Fear Jazz Society.

Not a member of CAM or CFJS? Not a problem, become a member of either--or support both!--organizations and enjoy cost savings on the jazz series as well as other member benefits offered by each. Don't delay concerts routinely sell out!

Athenian Press’ Femme Speak Out Slam

SLAM SHOWCASE: Athenian Press’ Femme Speak Out Slam

Social justice and arts nonprofit Athenian Press & Workshops will host a special-edition SLAM of the performative showcase Femme Speak Out, featuring student work. The FEMME SLAM will showcase women, femmes, trans, and gender nonconforming performers, attendees will hear the voices of our local women and femme community. Five students will be awarded a cash prize as part of the performative competition. Suggested Donation: $5.00. Weyerhaeuser Reception Hall
Starting at 6:30 pm CAM Café will be open for the Slam Showcase with a cash bar and light bites for purchase.

Athenian Press & Workshops and Cameron Art Museum have collaborated with UNCW Office of the Arts to plan the "SEVEN" residency of community arts. LA Theatre Work’s "SEVEN" tells the true stories of seven women who bravely fought for the well-being of women, families, and children around the globe. Through this documentary play, which will be presented at UNCW'a Kenan Auditorium on Wed. Oct. 16, women “give voice to the voiceless." This showcase is in in the spirit of the "SEVEN" mission.


FAMILIES: Kids@CAM with HP Fangs

Using CAM’s "Recuérdame/Remember Me" exhibition (on view through Nov. 10, 2019) as inspiration, artist and educator HP Fangs (Greyson D., www.hpfangs.com) will show children how to design their own sugar skulls using a variety of color and crafting materials! Greyson D. is an artist and art teacher at GLOW Academy.
Kids@CAM is fun for all ages. Parental supervision required at all times. No pre-registration necessary. Suggested donation: $5.00 per child

Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Namé has been performing in the Cape Fear region since 2010. CAM’s current Studio 1 exhibition "Recuérdame/Remember Me" (on view through Nov. 10, 2019) features the work of Charlotte artist Rosalia Torres-Weiner (www.redcalacastudio.com) who uses her art to document social conditions and raise awareness about issues affecting immigrant communities like family separation, racism and moving beyond common stereotypes. Charlotte, NC artist Rosalia Torres-Weiner uses her art to document social conditions and raise awareness about issues affecting immigrant communities like family separation, racism and moving beyond common stereotypes. Across Charlotte her public murals celebrate the rich history and changing demographics of the South. Torres-Weiner’s work is included in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Anacostia Museum and has been exhibited in venues including the McColl Center for Arts and Innovation, Levine Museum of the New South, the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, and the Mexican Cultural Institute in Washington D.C.

Enjoy music by Jeff Sanchez 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm while you dine at CAM Café, the restaurant serves dinner Thursday evenings from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm and offers half-price bottles of wine. Jeff has been playing music in Wilmington since 2006, when he joined local rock n roll band The Clams as a drummer, but slowly gravitated to rhythm guitar and vocals. He also played guitar and sang with Upstarts and Rogues. Among his favorite singers are Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and Harry Nilsson.

Miracle Field at Olsen Park is located at 5510 Olsen Park Lane. The Miracle League of Wilmington gives hundreds of children and adults with disabilities a chance to play baseball with their fully accessible field and playground.
